Fullstack Academy has been around longer than most of the field. It was founded in New York in 2012 by David Yang and Nimit Maru, joined Bridgepoint Education (later Zovio) in 2019, and was sold by Zovio to Simplilearn, a Blackstone portfolio company, in an all-cash deal announced November 28, 2022. The about page now reads “a Simplilearn company” with an Atlanta address, and the school is licensed by the New York State Education Department. That lineage matters because the program you enroll in today is run by a large ed-tech owner, and the same curriculum is white-labeled through universities including Virginia Tech, the University of Illinois Chicago, LSU, and UT Dallas. If a university-branded version is in front of you, it is likely this course at a different price.
What you actually buy, and when it runs
The flagship is the Software Engineering Bootcamp. As of the October 9, 2026 check, the full-time cohort runs January 25 to April 16, 2027, with an application deadline of December 25, 2026, meeting Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 2:00pm ET. That is 20 live hours a week for 13 weeks; set against a 40-hour-a-week immersive, this is a lighter live-contact schedule. The part-time track covers the same material over 22 weeks across three evenings a week, which you can hold alongside a day job.
The stack is conventional full-stack JavaScript: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, then React on the front end, Node.js, Express, and PostgreSQL on the back end, with Git throughout. New in the 2025 to 2026 version is a heavy “vibe coding” framing built around AI tools, with ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and Microsoft Copilot named in the curriculum. Treat that as a reflection of how the school is marketing itself this year rather than a separate credential. The fundamentals underneath are the same ones a JavaScript bootcamp has taught for a decade.
Admissions are open. The process is an online application, a call with a Student Advisor, and a decision within one to three business days, with no technical test and no prior coding experience required. That is a genuine plus for a true beginner and a signal about the room you will be in: an open-admission cohort spans a wider range of starting ability than a program that screens, which shapes how fast the class can move.
The prices are real; the discount framing is marketing
The tuition numbers are verified against the program page. The list price is $11,995. Pay upfront and it is $7,995. Pay by installments (0% interest, no credit check) or through a third-party loan and it is $8,995. The program page presents the lower figures as limited-time discounts. The practical point is which number to plan around: compare Fullstack against other programs on the discounted $7,995 or $8,995 that the page actually offers, not on the $11,995 list.
Financing options include the upfront discount, the 0% installment plan, third-party loans at variable rates, GI Bill benefits, and employer sponsorship. The GI Bill eligibility and an Amazon Career Choice partnership (noted on Wikipedia, 2022) are real differentiators for veterans and for Amazon employees whose tuition may be covered. We did not find a published refund or withdrawal policy on the program page, so put that on your list of questions for the Student Advisor rather than assuming one exists.
The outcomes problem: one report, from 2021
This is the single most important thing to understand before paying. The only graduate-outcomes report Fullstack publishes is the Fullstack Academy and Grace Hopper Program 2021 Jobs Report, reviewed by the Workforce Talent Educators Association. Its headline figure, the one the student-outcomes page still quotes, is that 72% of 2021 full-time graduates who completed Career Success were employed in-field within a year. That 72% is a blend of two programs. Inside the report, Fullstack Academy’s own Software Engineering Immersive placed 66% of its Career Success completers in-field; the Grace Hopper Program, Fullstack’s women-and-nonbinary track, placed 80% and pulls the combined number up. So the rate for the bootcamp this article is about is 66%, not 72%, and that is still a share of people who completed the Career Success job-search program, not of everyone who enrolled. Counting all Fullstack SE graduates, including those who opted out of Career Success, the report’s cumulative rate is 58%. On pay, the report is cleaner: for Fullstack’s SE graduates specifically (Table 3), it gives a $90,000 median and a $88,561 average starting salary. The median sits above the mean here, so the salary figure is not a case of a few outsized offers dragging the average up.
The bigger issue is the date. There is no report for 2022, 2023, 2024, or 2025 graduates, and the student-outcomes page still cites that 2021 figure in 2026. The job market a 2021 graduate walked into, before the 2022 to 2024 tech hiring contraction and before the current AI-driven squeeze on junior roles, is not the market a 2027 graduate will face. The 2021 report also explicitly excluded the school’s cybersecurity graduates for lack of data, so even within that one report, it describes software engineering outcomes only. A five-year-old placement number, measured in a different hiring climate, is thin evidence for an $8,000 decision. The fix is straightforward: ask admissions for the in-field placement rate and median salary for the most recent completed cohort, and for how they define “placed.” If the only number they can give you is still 2021, treat that silence as the answer.
For the record, techinterview.org has no affiliate or referral relationship with Fullstack Academy. This is not a lead-generation page, and the hiring-partner logos the school lists (Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Bloomberg, and others) are claims of where some alumni have landed, not an audited placement record.
How well it prepares you for the technical interview
The career support is documented and real. The student-outcomes page describes a Career Success Team available for 12 months after graduation, 1:1 coaching, workshops, a 14-hour Career Success Practicum, resume feedback, and interview prep. On the technical side, “Unit 8” of the curriculum covers algorithm analysis, data structures, searching, sorting, recursion, and graph algorithms. Interview prep is listed in the career curriculum, though no mock-interview count is published.
In our interview-prep scoring, that earns a 2 out of 5. Data structures and algorithms are present but not deep (2 of 5), there is no system design module at all (0 of 5), and behavioral and mock-interview support exist but are not quantified. Course Report reviewers specifically cite gaps in data-structures-and-algorithms readiness during the actual job search, which is the recurring complaint across JavaScript bootcamps: the syllabus gets you building full-stack apps, but the technical interview at competitive employers is built on algorithm and system-design material the course only skims.
Plan to close that gap yourself. Drill coding patterns and time and space complexity beyond what Unit 8 covers, work through system design separately since the program teaches none, and use a structured self-study plan to sequence it. The career team’s negotiation coaching is worth using; moving one offer can recover a chunk of tuition.

The aggregate ratings are high: Course Report sits at 4.78 across 443 reviews and SwitchUp at 4.81, though Trustpilot is a more modest 3.9 across only 16 reviews. Reddit sentiment is genuinely unknown rather than positive. A search in October 2026 surfaced only a 2020 thread calling the interview process “too easy” and a 2023 question thread, with nothing from the last 18 months, so there is no fresh independent discussion to lean on in either direction. A listing on Course Report carries a “job assistance guarantee” tag, but with no published terms anywhere, so if anyone tells you placement is guaranteed, ask them to show you the clause in writing.
Who it suits, and who should look elsewhere
Fullstack Academy is a defensible choice for a career-changer with no coding background who wants a scheduled, instructor-led program at a mid-range price, with a fixed start date published in advance and a lighter live-hours load than a full-time immersive. Veterans with GI Bill benefits and Amazon employees with Career Choice coverage have a specific reason to look here. “Defensible” means it is priced and structured in line with its peers among coding bootcamps, not that its current results are proven; on that last point, nobody’s are, because the school is not publishing them.
Look elsewhere if you need recent, audited placement data to justify the spend, if you are aiming at the competitive-employer technical bar and want a program that teaches system design and deep algorithms rather than leaving them to self-study, or if you want screened cohorts of people closer to your level. The product itself is reasonable. The missing piece is evidence that it still works as well in 2026 as a 2021 report once said it did, and only Fullstack can supply that. Make them.
