What they actually ask

  • Design audio content delivery with offline downloads. Focus on streaming audio at multiple bitrates from a CDN and on downloading for offline use — chunking files, encrypting them on device, and checking entitlements before playback. Interviewers probe device storage limits, background download behavior, and what happens to cached content when a subscription lapses.
  • Design subscription management and family plans. Be ready to model plans, entitlements, and billing state across Apple, Google, and web payment sources, plus how one family plan shares a subscription across several accounts with per-member limits. Common probes: grace periods, refunds, and reconciling receipts when a user subscribes through two stores at once.
  • Design personalization for content recommendations. Expect follow-ups on cold-start users, offline batch ranking versus real-time scoring, and how you’d measure whether a recommendation actually helped.
