status: enrolling · checked 2026-10-08

Great Learning sells university-branded online certificates: a 23-week UT Austin McCombs AI/ML program for USD 3,950 and 15-16 week MIT-branded data science programs for USD 2,500-3,900, built from recorded faculty lectures plus Great Learning mentors. It suits people who want a recognizable certificate of completion and structure, not a job pipeline; there is no outcomes reporting and career help is resume reviews and mock interviews. Before paying, read the cancellation tiers in the FAQ and confirm which legal entity bills you, since ownership has moved between BYJU'S, its lenders, and the founders since 2023.

Public program pages list resume/LinkedIn review and mock interview sessions as add-on career support; the syllabi are applied ML and business-application modules with no coding-interview or system-design content.

Job support: light. UT Austin page FAQ: 'Receive personalized career support, including tailored guidance, resume and LinkedIn reviews, and mock interview sessions.' Branded as GL eXcelerate. MIT pages mention a Great Learning program support team but no placement service. No DS&A, system design, or negotiation content.

Whatever the program covers, the interview itself is free to prepare for here: coding patterns, system design, practice prompts, company guides.

What a careful reader should know

on the record

Partner role: the MIT IDSS page states 'Great Learning is the education delivery partner… The curriculum is developed and taught by MIT IDSS faculty; Great Learning manages' delivery; the UT Austin page says the program is 'offered by the McCombs School of Business… in collaboration with Great Learning', with recorded faculty content, live masterclasses, and Great Learning mentors and program managers. The certificate is a certificate of completion with CEUs, not a degree or university admission. Ownership: BYJU'S (Think & Learn) bought Great Learning for about USD 600M in July 2021. BYJU'S then defaulted on a USD 1.2B term loan; in Oct 2023 lenders of BYJU'S Alpha appointed Kroll to safeguard the charged assets of Great Learning Education Pte Ltd (Singapore), with lenders holding a charge over about 60% of Great Learning, and Kroll stating that courses would continue as usual (Moneycontrol). BYJU'S put Great Learning on the block in 2023 to raise USD 800M-1B (Reuters/Moneycontrol). Inc42 (Feb 2025) reported that the equity held by Think & Learn 'was eventually shifted to the lenders of BYJU'S' and that the three founders run the company, which reported FY24 revenue of about USD 118M and a USD 1.5M net profit; Entrackr reported FY25 revenue of Rs 1,039 crore. In Nov 2025 upGrad bid for Think & Learn assets and said it was eyeing Great Learning (Moneycontrol). In Dec 2025 Mint (via PressReader) and Motilal Oswal ran headlines that the Great Learning co-founder bought back the Indian unit and the USD 600M deal was unwound; the article bodies could not be read in this check, so terms are unverified. BYJU'S parent remains in Indian insolvency: a US court ordered the founder to pay over USD 1B in Nov 2025 (TechCrunch) and the NCLT stayed the bidding process in July 2026 (Rediff). Practical effect: Great Learning operates and is profitable per the reports above, but its ownership has been in flux since 2023; confirm which entity is on your invoice. Earlier complaint on record: Moneycontrol (2022) reported mis-selling allegations around an IIT Bombay-branded course. Trustpilot 1-star themes: refund difficulty and aggressive sales calls. Course Report notes Great Learning has not shared alumni outcomes.

Third-party signals: Course Report 4.9 (1735 reviews). Graduation-time star ratings are collected by the schools; weigh them accordingly.

Facts carry a badge: verified means we read it on a primary source on the date shown, reported means a third party said it, unknown means nobody we trust has published it.
