Codecademy Machine Learning/AI Engineer career path (Pro)

status: enrolling · checked 2026-10-08

On 2026-10-08 the Machine Learning/AI Engineer career path (50 hours, 42,832 learners) and AI Engineer career path (30 hours) were live and purchasable through a Pro subscription; self-paced, no cohorts. source

Codecademy's Machine Learning/AI Engineer path is a 50-hour self-paced course bundle sold through a Pro subscription at about $240 a year or $40 a month, with AI-driven interview and job-readiness tools instead of human career services. It suits beginners who want cheap, browser-based practice in Python and scikit-learn before committing to anything expensive. Before paying, note that Skillsoft laid off the whole Codecademy curriculum team in February 2026 and that billing complaints dominate its Trustpilot page, so use monthly billing and cancel deliberately.

Pricing page lists technical interview prep and code challenges as Pro features; the ML path itself has no DS&A or system design units, and interview practice is an AI simulator.

Job support: light. Pro includes an AI 'Interview simulator', an AI 'Job-readiness checker', job listings, technical interview prep and code challenges per the pricing page; no human coaching, no mock interviews with people, no placement service.

Whatever the program covers, the interview itself is free to prepare for here: coding patterns, system design, practice prompts, company guides.

What a careful reader should know

on the record

Owner: Skillsoft agreed to buy Codecademy for about $525M in cash and stock in Dec 2021 and closed on April 5, 2022 (Wikipedia; Bloomberg Law reported a legal challenge to the deal in Dec 2023, headline only). On Feb 20, 2026 EdTech Innovation Hub reported that Skillsoft laid off the entire Codecademy curriculum team, confirmed on LinkedIn by Senior Curriculum Director Zoe Bachman; Skillsoft gave no public rationale. That matters for a self-paced product whose value is the curriculum. Course Report's only Codecademy listing is a legacy 'Codecademy Pro' page with 2 reviews at 1.0/5, so treat it as non-representative. Trustpilot: 2.4/5 from 1,477 reviews; complaints center on billing after cancellation and content errors, praise on beginner-friendliness. The path page shows an unsourced '$127,000' average US salary figure; it is not an outcomes claim about graduates.

Third-party signals: Course Report 1 (2 reviews). Graduation-time star ratings are collected by the schools; weigh them accordingly.

This directory takes no lead fees or placement payments from any program. Where a program runs an affiliate scheme we say so on its page and mark the link. Facts carry a badge: verified means we read it on a primary source on the date shown, reported means a third party said it, unknown means nobody we trust has published it.
