App Academy

status: pivoted · checked 2026-10-08

Checked 2026-10-08: appacademy.io is live, but the original full-time immersive is gone. The tuition page's meta description reads 'App Academy, powered by Coding Temple', the FAQ says 'App Academy has partnered with Coding Temple to deliver select programs using Coding Temple's award-winning curriculum', and the catalog now mirrors Coding Temple's (AI Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Data Analytics, Quality Assurance; 'Live Private Cohort' 5 months part-time evenings or 'Blended Learning' self-paced up to 6 months, start 'Anytime'). Wayback snapshots show the old $23,150/$15,900 tuition page with no Coding Temple mention on June 13, 2025, a Coding Temple Typeform on the homepage by August 2, 2025, and the 'powered by Coding Temple' tuition page by October 28, 2025. Course Report marks the school closed; its course-dates page still lists 2024-2025 cohorts. source

App Academy, the selective San Francisco immersive famous for its deferred-tuition model, no longer exists in that form; since mid-2025 the name sells Coding Temple's part-time programs at $5,995 to $10,000 with a nine-month job guarantee. It might suit someone who wants Coding Temple's format and prefers the App Academy brand, but the two are now the same product. Before paying, read the contract to see which legal entity, guarantee and refund terms you are actually signing, and ignore the 2019 outcomes and the 1,100 old reviews.

Interview-prep depth

our read of the published curriculum

The syllabus is not public in enough detail to score. FAQ cites Coding Temple's 'top-tier career services'; Coding Temple's site lists a tuition-protection guarantee and career coaching. No mock-interview, DS&A or system-design detail is published for the current programs.

What a careful reader should know

on the record

Resolution of the status conflict: Course Report's 'closed' notice (last review June 12, 2024) refers to the original Hash Map Labs immersive; the appacademy.io brand was relaunched in mid-2025 as 'App Academy, powered by Coding Temple', a different school (founded 2015, online, 4.77 on Course Report, 466 reviews) with its own curriculum, pricing and guarantee. No press release or news coverage of the arrangement was found; the privacy policy and terms (last updated June 30, 2021) still name Hash Map Labs Inc. and do not mention Coding Temple, and the regulatory page still lists California BPPE and NYSED approvals for the old entity. The 1,153 Course Report reviews and the 2019 outcomes describe the old program. App Academy's ISA (15% for 3 years, $31,000 cap) survives only on a stale page. Reddit sentiment on the relaunch could not be sampled this session (search tools blocked).

Third-party signals: Course Report 4.65 (1153 reviews). SwitchUp 4.69. Graduation-time star ratings are collected by the schools; weigh them accordingly.
