# Netskope Interview Guide (2026): Systems Coding and Post-IPO Pay

Netskope builds Netskope One, a cloud security and networking platform (secure web gateway, CASB, zero trust access, DLP, cloud firewall) on its own NewEdge private cloud. It has traded on Nasdaq as NTSK since September 18, 2025, and reported $899 million in ARR as of July 31, 2026. Candidate reports from 2022 to 2025 describe a recruiter screen, a hiring-manager round, two to four technical rounds, and a director or leadership round for senior hires. Engineering hiring centers on Santa Clara, Bengaluru and Taipei. Posted US base salary ranges for staff-to-principal roles run $116,000 to $272,000 before bonus and stock (job postings, November 2026); Levels.fyi puts median total pay at $249,000 in the Bay Area and about ₹67.7 lakh in Bengaluru.

Netskope was founded in 2012 and is led by co-founder and CEO Sanjay Beri, according to its [fiscal 2026 annual report](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2063196/000119312526135011/ck0002063196-20260131.htm). Netskope One puts a secure web gateway that decrypts and inspects TLS traffic, a cloud access security broker, private application access, data loss prevention, a cloud firewall and SD-WAN behind one policy engine. For the [quarter ended July 31, 2026](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2063196/000119312526380188/ntsk-ex99_1.htm), revenue rose 29% to $220.5 million and ARR grew 27% to $899 million, with a GAAP operating loss of $89.8 million.

The 10-K counts 3,281 employees, about 67% outside the United States, with R&D leadership in Santa Clara and offices in Missouri, the UK, France, India, Spain and Taiwan. Engineering openings on the [job board](https://www.netskope.com/company/careers/open-positions/) in November 2026 sit mostly in Bengaluru, Taipei and Santa Clara, and about three in four carry Staff or higher titles. The [Secure AI Gateway posting](https://www.netskope.com/company/careers/open-positions/?gh_jid=8174989) says that team works with engineers in the US, Taiwan and India. Netskope [opened a new Bangalore office in June 2023](https://www.itvoice.in/netskope-opens-new-office-in-bangalore-as-india-team-doubles-in-size-in-two-years), saying its India team had more than doubled since January 2021.

## Process

Netskope does not publish its engineering loop. A Staff Engineer hired in [Bengaluru in February 2025](https://www.jointaro.com/interviews/companies/netskope/experiences/staff-engineer-bengaluru-karnataka-february-1-2025-accepted-offer-positive-bf0fd626/) described an HR fit call, three technical rounds on data structures, domain knowledge and past projects, a hiring-manager interview and a leadership-team interview. A [US senior engineer hired in April 2023](https://www.jointaro.com/interviews/companies/netskope/experiences/sr-software-engineer-united-states-april-13-2023-accepted-offer-positive-d1d8f982/) had three coding rounds, one system design round and a manager round, each with domain questions and a 40-minute coding exercise. A [Taipei staff candidate in August 2023](https://www.jointaro.com/interviews/companies/netskope/experiences/staff-engineer-taipei-august-23-2023-declined-offer-positive-16eeffd1/) had a hiring-manager interview, three low-level systems rounds and an in-person director interview.

The coding bar sits at LeetCode easy to medium. A [Bengaluru senior candidate (October 2024)](https://www.jointaro.com/interviews/companies/netskope/experiences/senior-software-engineer-bengaluru-october-1-2024-no-offer-positive-00618ca9/) described a 30-minute HR screen and easy and medium problems, and a [Taipei backend candidate (February 2024)](https://www.jointaro.com/interviews/companies/netskope/experiences/backend-engineer-taipei-february-1-2024-no-offer-positive-50f6d2c0/) said interviewers expected the optimal solution. Rounds can run long: an [India senior engineer hired in 2024](https://www.jointaro.com/interviews/companies/netskope/experiences/senior-software-engineer-india-june-1-2024-accepted-offer-positive-5ecff14e/) sat four technical interviews of 90 to 120 minutes over more than a month.

The negative reports share a theme: level and headcount problems that surface late. A [principal candidate in India (reported 2024)](https://www.jointaro.com/interviews/companies/netskope/experiences/principal-software-engineer-india-june-1-2024-declined-offer-negative-4f37ede5/) waited more than six months for an offer below their current level. A [US senior candidate (December 2022)](https://www.jointaro.com/interviews/companies/netskope/experiences/senior-software-engineer-united-states-december-1-2022-declined-offer-negative-cc35311a/) cleared every round and the background check, then heard there was no open position. Confirm the requisition, team and level with the recruiter before the final rounds, and brief your references.

The next two prompts are built from current job postings, not candidate reports. The [Cloud Firewall posting](https://www.netskope.com/company/careers/open-positions/?gh_jid=8329332) asks for packet and flow forwarding, VPP, NAT, IPsec and IPS in C and C++, which suggests: trace a packet through a firewall that applies NAT and IPS, and say where per-flow state lives when flows are spread across cores. The Secure AI Gateway posting describes routing and inspecting LLM API traffic across providers in Go, which suggests: design a gateway that routes across several LLM providers, applies DLP to prompts, and fails over when one provider throttles.

## Security roles at Netskope

Public candidate reports for security roles are close to nonexistent: the newest Taro report with a security title is a [Director, Cloud Security account from November 2020](https://www.jointaro.com/interviews/companies/netskope/experiences/director-cloud-security-de-zoom-november-1-2020-accepted-offer-positive-3fc1a82b/), and the Blind threads reviewed for this guide add nothing. What follows comes from filings, the Threat Labs site and postings, so treat the interview format as unknown.

Netskope Threat Labs is the research group. The [10-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2063196/000119312526135011/ck0002063196-20260131.htm) places it at the Santa Clara headquarters with members worldwide, lists cloud phishing, AI-generated phishing, malware, ransomware and data exfiltration among its subjects, and says its researchers present at DEF CON, Black Hat and RSA Conference. The [Threat Labs site](https://threatlabs.netskope.com/) publishes reports such as the Cloud and Threat Report: 2026 and short analyses, such as an October 30, 2026 post on a trojanized Claude Code extension in the Cursor marketplace. No Threat Labs role was open in early November 2026. A closed [Sr. Threat Research Engineer posting in Brazil](https://jobs.accel.com/companies/netskope/jobs/55103481-sr-threat-research-engineer) asked for static and dynamic malware analysis, threat hunting with Jupyter, Spark and SQL, Python with Pandas, and published research. A closed [Bengaluru posting with the same title](https://jobs.accel.com/companies/netskope/jobs/43270574-sr-threat-research-engineer) centered on SaaS security posture content and pentesting experience.

The internal security team hires separately. A live [Bengaluru posting for a Sr. Manager, Application Security and Red Team](https://www.netskope.com/company/careers/open-positions/?gh_jid=7982600) covers adversary emulation and penetration testing against the products and cloud infrastructure, MITRE ATT&CK, AWS, Azure and GCP assessments including Kubernetes, and purple-team work with Security Operations and Detection Engineering.

Most security-flavored engineering sits on product teams. ## Levels and comp (2026)

Levels.fyi's [San Francisco Bay Area page](https://www.levels.fyi/companies/netskope/salaries/software-engineer/locations/san-francisco-bay-area), viewed in November 2026, shows median software engineer total compensation of $249,000: $204,000 base, $30,000 stock per year and a $15,000 bonus. Level medians run $202,000 at MTS 3, $204,000 at MTS 4, $281,000 at Staff, $285,000 at Senior Staff and $378,000 at Principal Engineer.

US postings show national salary ranges, and candidates may also be eligible for a bonus plan and stock awards. As of November 2026: Staff SDET, PKI, $116,000 to $235,500; Sr. Staff Engineer, Cloud Firewall, $124,500 to $220,000; [Senior Staff or Principal ML Scientist](https://www.netskope.com/company/careers/open-positions/?gh_jid=8063869), $124,500 to $272,000; Principal Engineer, Secure AI Gateway, $133,500 to $272,000; [Director of Engineering, Agentic AI](https://www.netskope.com/company/careers/open-positions/?gh_jid=8181005), $154,000 to $312,500. Some postings say candidates are leveled individually, which helps explain the width.

India and Taiwan postings show no ranges. Levels.fyi's [Greater Bengaluru page](https://www.levels.fyi/companies/netskope/salaries/software-engineer/locations/greater-bengaluru) shows a median of about ₹67.7 lakh total (₹50.7 lakh base, ₹11.9 lakh stock, ₹5.1 lakh bonus), from ₹37.9 lakh at MTS 3 and ₹70.4 lakh at Staff to ₹1.63 crore at Principal Engineer. Levels.fyi's [Taiwan page](https://www.levels.fyi/companies/netskope/salaries/software-engineer/locations/taiwan) shows a median of about NT$2.66 million total, with level medians from NT$2.12 million at MTS 3 to NT$2.77 million at Staff. A [July 2024 Blind thread](https://www.teamblind.com/post/how-is-netskope-these-days-mkqd4fjv) describes a pre-IPO India offer at ₹70 lakh CTC with 4,000 RSUs.

Grants are now publicly traded stock. The [10-K](https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/2063196/000119312526135011/ck0002063196-20260131.htm) says RSUs generally vest ratably over three to four years, and an employee stock purchase plan took effect with the IPO. Settle the level before the numbers: the India principal candidate above got an offer about 30% under their current pay.

## Prep priorities

Start with medium-difficulty data structures, and practice reaching the optimal solution rather than stopping at a working one. For data-path, DLP, firewall or endpoint teams, add C and C++ systems work: memory allocators, packet buffers, lock contention and reading a crash dump. The AI gateway and backend teams write Go, and the [backend systems posting](https://www.netskope.com/company/careers/open-positions/?gh_jid=8059158) describes a config service and a telemetry pipeline, a good template for a design answer.

Networking is assumed.
