For the past year and a half, we have been fostering dogs rescued from the CACC (the NYC pound) that would otherwise have been killed. I work with one of the many rescue groups here in New York City - New Yorkers for Companion Animals. So far we personally have saved over 16 dogs. If you would like to help us on our mission to save these sweet animals then you can do one or more of the following:
- Make a donation! Using either PayPal or Amazon you can quickly and easily make a much need donation! Please be generous!
- Never buy an animal from a pet store or a breeder. Most people don't realize why this is bad, so please understand this point. There are THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS of animals, pure-bred and mixed breed, in shelters across the country. You can find ANY kind of animal at Petfinder - a website which every single rescue organization and shelter uses. We do not need to encourage breeders and puppy mills to manufacture more dogs and cats on this planet when there are already more than enough! The saddest part is that every dog we have fostered from the pound that was about to die, was the most wonderful and sweetest dog around. If every dog we've rescued has been that sweet and wonderful, think of the many more who are being put to death unnecessarily. If you do one single thing to help the animals on this planet, then you should help people realize why they should get their pets from shelters (and even more importantly why mixed breed dogs have better health and temparements than pure bred dogs). Mutts are the best!
- Spay and neuter your pet ALWAYS. You can't see the hundreds of sweet dogs that are put down in the city pounds and still think that "breeding" your dog is a good idea.
- Buy CityDesk - the content management program I used to put this site together! Through your support of Fog Creek Software you can indirectly support the saving of sweet animals!
